LVO3 Gives Back - Charities We Support

I always like the idea of anonymous donations, cos it's not about the ego. But I also admire companies like Target (yes, Chez Target) who make a big fucking deal of giving back, because we all need reminders of what we can give to the world, and shit, if I'm gonna use my evil powers of persuasion to sell stuff, damn straight I'm giving money back to get me out of Purgatory. :) We are here to make the world a better place and give back, remember? :)

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Research

Please read this letter from my Mom, Candy Dullaghan. She's a two-time Breast Cancer surivor, and this October, I'm joining her and her friends for the 2nd year in a row to walk 40.2 miles to raise money to treat Breast Cancer and provide early detection.

And if you think this issue does not affect you, check this. MEN get breast cancer, too. But no one talks about it, because it's "too embarrassing."

Not only that, but over 12% of women will get Breast Cancer at some point in their lifetime. That means for every 8 cute girls you see at the club, one of them is going to have a disease ravage her body, and perhaps take her life.

One in Eight of the girls with those beautiful, beautiful titties we all love so much are going to get cancer. Let's work together to make that percentage drop.

Save the Titties!

My name is Candy Dullaghan and I am a two time breast cancer survivor. I was first diagnosed in 2001 and received chemotherapy and radiation. In 2006, I had passed the five year mark and felt I was safe. In 2007, I was once again diagnosed with cancer. A mammogram had saved my life for a second time.

I am a walker and treasurer for Team Holden Beach Flips Flops, Inc. that raises money for Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. All walkers must raise a minimum of $1,800.00 for the privilege of walking 39.3 miles in two days. I walked in 2006 and 2007. In 2007 I was asked to be the guest speaker for the Charlotte walk. I was honored and especially pleased because my team raised over $70,000.00 and was the number one fund raiser in Charlotte and my son, Sean, was walking with me and for me. Through the grace of god and the help of celebrex and pain pills, I was able to walk the full 39.3 miles only one month after completing my chemotherapy treatments.

The greatest part of this walk was the people who came up to me and told me their stories during the walk and just wanted to hug me or hold me. I was very touched by the story told to me by the Mohawked man who was carrying his wife's sneakers in her memory. She walked in 2006 but passed in 2007 leaving him and two small children. At the closing ceremony he came up to me and hugged me and told me to kick ass.

That is exactly what I am doing, but I need your help to do it.

The funds we raise for Avon go to research and more importantly for early detection and treatment for the medically deprived men and woman. Yes, I said men. You can get this cancer as well as your mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, wife or significant other.

I can't do it alone. None of us can. Please help support me on my 39.3 mile walk by going now to my personal page:

You will be amazed at how great you will feel supporting this walk. It's not just me out there. I carry with me your support, and the memories of all those who have walked before, as well as the love living in the hearts of those who have lost friends and family to this disease.

Without your support, there are a lot of people, women AND men, who would become victims. You and me together will turn them into survivors, and thrivers. Let's work towards a cure for breast cancer.
